It doesn't look like you are focused enough on that to have it as a possible win-con and could instead be used for other benefits. I would consider removing the curses that benefit from milling, such as ]. Being able to search for ], ], or even a ramp piece such as sol ring, has been amazing. If you can find room, ] has been huge for me. Now if you can do this multiple times in a turn cycle, that could potentially be 3-4 2/2 zombies you're making each round that you can then use to block or attack with when it comes back around to you. If you sac or destroy one of your own curses, it will return from the GY to the BF attached to you. If you do find yourself with a curse leaving your GY on a regular basis, a fun synergy I just found out about is ]. By giving yourself two upkeep triggers, that's 2 curses you could be handing out to people. If you do end up with multiple curses on yourself, another great way of dishing them back out to people is via ]. It lets you bounce as many non-land permanents to your hand from the BF, so it's a great way to save your curses from a mass exile or destroy all. It is very weird and could be potentially confusing to newer players to standard, but given the explosive growth of commander I understand it.As another user noted, a great recursion piece you can set up early is ] and just sac it if someone ends up playing a mass enchantment destroy effect to return all your curses from the GY to your hand. Of course, some cards like Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor were never going to break standard, but this also frees up a standard legal mythic rare slot for a card that could have more impact on the format. So now they can just print those things in regular sets but make them not standard legal. This broke standard and they kept having to ban stuff.

This came back to bite them though with cards like Omnath, Locus of Creation, which definitely fit in the Zendikar revival thematically, but which they didn't build a precon around and was standard legal. Of course, they have been designing commander-intended cards in standard sets for awhile, the difference being that those were also standard legal. As such they are using regular sets to put out more stuff. A couple of years ago they were printing one commander set a year, and at that rate no one would be able to afford precons due to demand alone, and there could be a risk of there not being enough diversity among commanders and strategies. I think that also commander has now grown to be the largest format by a long shot, and it's growing so fast that trying to support it is challenging. Why are Commander cards being … 11 months ago In the actual games what's your experience when piloting/facing theese kind of decks? And what seem to be the most efficient tacticts?

Long story short, the deck has to be a delicate balance of all these strategies to be funcioning as it should and, at the same time, letting us survive till the endgame. The last strategy to survive that came to my mind is filling the deck with "goad effects": this way our opponents' creatures can stay alive and are forced to attack the other players embracing the group slug theme i actually had in mind when building the deck. They look good on paper, but after you have given an opponent an end stage Demonic Pact or "simply" an Aggressive Mining they are more then willingly to be paying 1 life for each attacking creature (and yes, sometimes the numerical restriction of Crawlspace isn't a factor either when an opponent can swing with huge creatures).Īnother "solution" is using token generators like Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs since they give us the resource to block some creatures. The first one that came into my mind are pillowfort cards like Crawlspace and Marchesa's Decree. Since you can't restart the board every other turn (probably you could, but i don't think i could afford loosing my commander so often and there aren't enough asymmetrical boardwipes) and the deck can't be 50% removal (then again, technically it could be but the point of the deck is trying to win according to a specific strategy and not to just survive) other kind of precautions have to be made. I own a Blim deck and i must say that building around him was really complex because it's pretty clear you can't go easy on gifts since are the only weapon of the deck basically but, at the same time, once you start spreading your fantastic gifts, your opponents will start targeting you like crazy. I think the most rapresentative of this category are (and maybe the only ones? I don't know for sure, wouldn't like to be missing someone): Blim, Comedic Genius, Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor and, of course, Zedruu the Greathearted. I want your opinion on EDH decks based on commanders that are focused on giving "bad gifts" to your opponents.
